Europe/Birding tours Hungary
Every season holds something wonderful for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts in the Central European country of Hungary. The well-known Hungarian hospitality and celebrated local cuisine make this an ideal destination for birding and natural history tours, made comfortable by the country’s excellent infrastructure and even more memorable by the rural charm of its well-preserved natural heritage.
Our birding tours take you to the world famous National Parks of Hungary: Hortobágy and Kiskunság, part of the once continuous Eurasian Steppe with its special landscapes, birds, butterflies and flowers. The grasslands, marshes and fishponds attract both breeding and migratory birds in large numbers. The forested Bükk and Zemplén Hills in the North-Eastern part of Hungary are excellent birding tour destinations for owls, woodpeckers, raptors and woodland birds. During winter the country is a temporary home to thousands of geese, including Red-breasted Geese, while Wallcreeper and Alpine Accentor can be spotted close to Budapest itself.
We can arrange optional extensions to the birding tour in Budapest and reserve good hotels, if you want to spend a few days in this beautiful city.
