Our bird photography tours in Hungary are located in a scenic and bird-rich area of the famous Kiskunság National Park, only an hour’s drive south of Budapest airport. We offer independent or fully guided bird photography tours. We are happy to cater for small groups or individual photographers, in any season.

About the bird photography hides

Our bird photography hides are designed to get as close to the birds as possible. The hides have glass panorama windows with a specific layer preventing birds seeing you and your camera movements while you can comfortably change position if needed. The bird photography hides are a perfect place for beginners and professional wildlife photographers who would like to enjoy a breath-taking experience being really close to birds and capture plumage details, behaviour, feeding habits like never before. We renew our hides every year following the changes in the natural environment. Amazingly close views of Red-footed Falcon, Roller, Bee-eater, Squacco Heron, Ferruginous Duck, Garganey, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Hawfinch and many other birds await you!

Raptor hide

We have built our feeding station for raptors in conjunction with Kiskunság National Park
and there are several other hides in the region available for us if bird movement requires.
Capacity: 2–3 photographers
Season: From November to March

Drinking hides

Cleverly designed drinking stations at the forest edge blending into their environment.Capacity: 2 photographers/hide
Season: From May to July, from November to March birds visit the feeders.

Great Bustard hide

We have exclusive access to a hide situated in the best bustard area in Hungary.Capacity: 2–3 photographers Season: First half of April

Tower hide

Our tower hide is located in the puszta area, next to a woody patch. The panorama windows are looking into a busy colony of Red-footed falcons, Kestrel, Jackdaws, Starlings, and often Rollers.
Capacity: 2-3 photographers Season: From late April to end of mid July

Mobile hides

Seasonal mobile hides follow the movement of birds. There are several colonies of lovely Bee-eaters providing great opportunities for bird photography.Capacity: 1–2 photographers Season: From April to July

Waterside Hide

Our hide is situated by an oxbow lake of the river Tisza. Nearby there is a heronry with 8 species breeding. The shallow water provides habitat for waders, grebes and ducks.
Capacity: 2 photographers/hide Season: From early April to October

Floating hide

It is still in an experimental stage, but the hide is ready to take adventurous photographers. The small floating platform is well camouflaged and it is suitable for stalking photography in shallow water or swamps. A wetsuit is provided.

Season: from May to July

Safari

With our 4WD van we regularly do short wildlife photography trips during the early morning hours when shots of Brown Hare, Roe Deer, birds of prey, some passerines and nice landscapes can be taken.

Canoe trips

We can organize canoe trips for whole groups on the nearby oxbows or ponds. Beautiful landscapes and many waterbirds are likely to be seen including good chances for nice flightshots as well.

The first morning of the trip brought a taste of things to come; Hoopoes, Red-backed Shrikes, Black Redstarts, Nightingales and a Wryneck – and that was just in the hotel grounds! Our guide Istvan and Imre were enthusiastic, patient and courteous at all times and clearly possessed the detailed local knowledge which is essential to make a bird photography tour a success. They were also very flexible, and could accommodate changes of plan and requests for revised itineraries even at short notice. All of this maximised our chances of connecting with the birds we came to Hungary to photograph. Using a combination of fixed and mobile hides gave us the flexibility either to “stake out” or “seek out” the target birds, and we succeeded in seeing and photographing all the key species – and most of them in beautiful weather conditions.

Thanks Istvan for a great week of photography despite all kinds of weather. The raptor hide was a wonderful experience and the drinking station hides were very well designed and built. I must come in summer when I am sure they will be teeming with thirsty birds but there was plenty of variety of birds visiting the adjacent feeders on my visits in March. The snow actually added interest and helped with light. Getting so close to long eared owls was also very special. Your efforts on my behalf, including loan of wellies and offering to carry gear, were greatly appreciated and the photographic opportunities were only matched by the warmth of hospitality. I shall be coming back sometime, hopefully in the not too distant future.

About the bird photography tours

Our bird photography centre is ideal for small groups, the 6 days long bird photography tours rotate around the hides. We are happy to organize your photo holiday or you can join to one of our bird photography workshops held by well-known wildlife photographers or you can lead your own workshop using our bird photography centre.There is comfortable accommodation in the area close to the hides and tasty local food is readily available. We can also provide daily updated information on species and possibilities for bird photography. Please enquire about exact dates and availabilities!
